Player Dallas Mavericks could sign: 4. Jamal Crawford

The last time Crawford played in an NBA game, he dropped 51 points against the Mavericks. That was Dirk Nowitzki’s final home contest at the end of last season. No team has signed the 40-year-old this year.

He still provides value as a shooter, floor spacer, and shot creator. Crawford averaged 15.1 points and 6.8 assists per-36 minutes last season despite playing a limited role for the Phoenix Suns. He could give any team ten points per game coming off the bench in Orlando. Signing during the transaction period would give him a full training camp to get in shape too.

The Mavericks could use a shot creator with Jalen Brunson out. They will be relying on Delon Wright and J.J. Barea to fill the backup point guard role. Wright has played mostly off the ball in coach Rick Carlisle’s system. Having Crawford would give them a scoring and ball-handling boost off the bench in the playoffs.

Crawford signing is an interesting storyline to follow. He finished last season scoring 28, 27, and 51 points in the final three games of the year. JC can still ball. The question is will he get the opportunity to prove it? Stay tuned to find out.
