Dallas Mavericks overall: Courtney Lee

Courtney Lee outperformed expectations this season. Many experts thought Lee would be moved at the trade deadline. There is a reason that did not happen. Lee played well and provided leadership for the young Mavericks. He performed adequately in his role too.

Overall grade for the 2019-2020 season: C

It was a strong season despite only 345 total minutes on the court. The playing time is a nod to the Mavs depth and not Lee’s abilities. Fans can read about why he would play more on other teams here.

Lee is a free agent at the conclusion of the season. The Mavericks would love to bring him back to play a similar role on a veteran minimum contract. That may not be enough money to get the deal done, though. Lee made over $12 million this season. That is a hefty pay cut. Some other team may offer a larger role or more money. It will be a situation to watch whenever free agency opens.

Courtney Lee proved he can still play this season. The 35-year-old could see minutes in the playoffs. Expect him to continue hitting his shots and playing solid defense whenever he is the court. That is what Courtney Lee does.
