5 reasons why signing Marcus Morris would make Dallas Mavericks title contenders

2. Marcus Morris helps Dallas Mavericks space the floor
It is no secret that the Mavs want floor spacers around Doncic and Porzingis. Luka is one of the best pick and roll ball handlers in the league. He got to the rim with ease and transformed into one of the top finishers at the rim in his second NBA season. To maximize that ability, Dallas needs plus shooters around him.
Marcus Morris hit 41.0 percent of his 324 3-point attempts this season split between the Clippers and Knicks. He was traded at the deadline from New York to Los Angeles. That is a new career-high, but Morris is a career 36.7 percent shooter from downtown.
Diving in further, Morris hit 43.0 percent of his catch and shoot threes this season. He was 38.9 percent a year ago too.
The Mavericks could run pick and rolls with Luka and KP flanked by Morris, Curry, and Hardaway Jr. beyond the 3-point line. Defenses would not know what to do. Help on Doncic and it is a wide-open shot by a 40-plus percent 3-point shooter. Leaving him or Porzingis results in an easy bucket. No team would look forward to facing that especially in a seven-game playoff series.
