5 reasons why signing Marcus Morris would make Dallas Mavericks title contenders

5. Marcus Morris fills a hole for Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs need a combo forward capable of doing work on both ends of the floor. Back at the trade deadline, Brian Windhorst reported they were searching for a player that can score 15-plus points a night with size. Morris checks those boxes.
The addition would allow coach Rick Carlisle to play Kristaps Porzingis at the five. He has taken off after Dwight Powell was injured this season. KP is more involved in the offense playing center because he gets to be the primary roll man.
Luka Doncic is the point guard and lead ball-handler. Dallas has options to play next to him the backcourt. Adding Morris frees up more minutes for Dorian Finney-Smith at the three. They could run a starting five of Doncic, Hardaway Jr. (or Curry), Finney-Smith, Morris, and Porzingis. That is a stout unit. The Mavericks would have considerable depth on the bench too.
Morris would add a bit of toughness that Dallas lacks at this point. He is not afraid to mix it up inside and get in an opponent’s face when necessary. The Mavericks could use that touch of fire. That is just the beginning of why Morris would be fantastic in Dallas, though.
