Dallas Mavericks supporters have been shocked by the play of Luka Doncic so far. GM Donnie Nelson was sold that they should move up to draft him. Nelson noticed his star potential, but nobody expected him to be one of the league’s best players as a 21-year-old.
Luka became only the second Maverick to ever win the Rookie of the Year in 2019. He averaged over 21 points per game in his first season.
Doncic made the superstar leap in year two. He started the All-Star game and found himself in the running for the Most Valuable Player award.

Any Dallas all-time list has to start with Dirk Nowitzki. He is the team’s GOAT. ESPN rounded out their five with Derek Harper, Jason Terry, Rolando Blackman, and Mark Aguirre. All were fantastic players. The article noted the toughest cuts were Jason Kidd and Michael Finley.
