Dallas Mavericks: Grading Delon Wright’s 2019-2020 season

Offense
Delon Wright averaged 7.3 points and 3.4 assists in 21.7 minutes per game this season. He shot 47.0 percent from the field which set a new career-high and his 38.5 percent on his threes tied one. His assists were also the best mark of his five NBA seasons.
Wright was a bit hesitant to shoot at times. His 5.9 field goal attempts per game ranked ninth on the Mavericks with Jalen Brunson and J.J. Barea taking more despite playing fewer minutes. His 1.8 3-point tries a night was 12th behind five players that received less run.

The advanced metrics were favorable. Wright earned 2.6 offensive win shares which ranked 67th in the NBA. He also had a 0.4 offensive box score plus-minus which finished 93rd.
It is hard to find fault with Wright’s production other than the lack of shooting. He moved the ball well and was a capable secondary creator. Wright got others involved and kept the NBA’s best offense flowing when he was on the floor.
Offensive grade: B
Delon Wright took a step forward this season. He received a few downgrades because of his lack of shooting, but he played his role well. The Mavericks have plenty of guard depth which limited his minutes and shots.
