2. Breaks Mavs triple-double record in win

The Dallas Mavericks became a franchise in 1980. They have been around for four decades. It took Luka Doncic just 122 games to break one of their franchise records. He grabbed the 22nd triple-double of his young career on March 4 against the Pelicans. Doncic had just turned 21 years old. He broke Jason Kidd’s franchise mark of 21.

The game was touted as the two top young stars in the NBA facing off as Zion Williamson and Pelicans visited Dallas. Doncic was not going to lose that battle. He finished with 30 points, 17 rebounds, and ten assists as he piloted the Mavericks to a 127-123 overtime win.

Here is a look at Luka’s highlight reel from that night.

Doncic also became the youngest player in NBA history to post 30 or more points, 15-plus rebounds, and ten or more assists in a single game. He and Nikola Jokic were the only two players to produce that line this season.

It was a special night for Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. It felt like a playoff atmosphere inside the American Airlines Center. Grabbing the win in a nationally televised game was impressive. It also further solidified their spot in the playoffs.
