3. Luka dunks on the Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks traveled to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers on Dec. 1. They lost in overtime in their first meeting of the season. That was the night Dwight Howard held Seth Curry to free Danny Green for the game-tying shot to send it to OT. The Mavs were looking for revenge in LA.

Luka Doncic quarterbacked a masterful team performance here. The Mavs fell behind early but delivered the knockout blow in the third quarter. It was sparked by a throw down dunk from Doncic. See the play below.

Shortly after that, the Mavericks scored 17 straight points on the Lakers. They put the game out of reach by the end of the third quarter. Doncic had 16 points and five assists in that period alone. It may have been his best 12 minutes of the season.

The Lakers were 17-2 entering this game. Then, the Mavs dominated them on their home floor. It ran their record to 13-6, and let everyone in the NBA know that they did not want to face Dallas. The Mavericks were going to be an offensive juggernaut all season that could win any game.
