Filling in at the one

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle played the matchups without Luka Doncic. He used J.J. Barea, Delon Wright, and Jalen Brunson to fill in depending on the opponent. The offense slowed a bit without Luka as they struggled to generate immediately.

Seth Curry came off the bench and benefitted by receiving the green light. The Mavs needed his scoring more than his spot up ability without Doncic.

Wright struggled in situations where he was asked to create. His playmaking ability was limited in the Mavs offense. It will be interesting to monitor if that improves moving forward. Remember, he is in his first season playing under Coach Carlisle.

In late-game situations, the team struggles in finding their identity and go-to scorer. It gets worse without Luka and his playmaking chops.

The Mavericks offense does not change dramatically without Luka Doncic. They still score over 100 a night. An entire season without their superstar would mean Porzingis, Curry, and Tim Hardaway Jr. need to step up to keep the Mavs humming.

Next. Will the Mavs trade for Rudy Gobert?

Hopefully, they do not have to have that experience anytime soon. Luka is under contract until at least 2022. An injury will be the only reason he is out of the lineup for the foreseeable future.
