5 players that may have played their last game with Mavericks

4. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist joined the Dallas Mavericks after receiving a buyout from the Charlotte Hornets. The 26-year-old was out of the rotation, and the Hornets are not in contention for the playoffs this season. MKG decided to come to Dallas for an opportunity to play in the postseason. He is only signed for the remainder of this season, though.
His playing time with the Mavs has been limited. Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging just 7.9 minutes per game. He has seen time on the court in nine of his 13 contests since coming to Dallas, though. That is more consistent run that he received in Charlotte.

MKG is a defensive specialist. He needs to improve his jump shot to earn additional playing time. That is no surprise to anyone. Kidd-Gilchrist has hit 28 3-pointers in his 103 career attempts. It is out of the norm these day to have forward that cannot hit jumpers.
It will be interesting to see if the Mavericks try to re-sign him in the offseason. They brought him in for a reason. The front office may prioritize another floor spacing wing in free agency, though. That would make it a very abbreviated stint for Kidd-Gilchrist with the Mavs. Stay tuned to see what the team’s plan is with MKG moving forward.
