Mavericks: Is Luka Doncic the NBA’s best player under 25?

5. Zion Williamson- New Orleans Pelicans
Finding the perfect spot for Zion Williamson on this list was extremely difficult. He has still only played in 19 games. The 19-year-old missed the first part of the season with a knee injury. Williamson also suffered a knee injury in his lone season at Duke.
In the 19 games, Zion has been absolutely incredible. He averages 23.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 29.7 minutes per game while shooting 58.9 percent from the field. He is virtually impossible to stop in the paint. Fans love his massive dunks and incredible highlights.
The upside is massive, but there are still question marks right now. Williamson struggles on the defensive end. He ranks 374th in ESPN’s defensive real plus/minus (he is 13th in offensive RPM). The rookie has only attempted 13 3-pointers as well. He is attacking the rim with success, but not spacing the floor for the Pelicans.
They are playing Williamson primarily at the four to begin his career, but he best profiles as a center.
It was difficult to put him too high on the list until there is a larger sample size despite his fantastic start. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and continue to improve. Williamson has superstar potential. Let’s see how high he can climb.
