Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis will miss at least three of the next four games with his knee injury. Find out more about his status going forward.

The Dallas Mavericks have played five straight games without Kristaps Porzingis. The Unicorn suffered a knee injury against the Lakers on Dec. 29. He hasn’t taken the court since with what the team is describing as “knee soreness”.

The details about the injury have been sparse. It is not the same knee that KP suffered the torn ACL in, but other than that fans are left to speculate what is going on.

The Dallas Mavericks did offer an update after practice on Jan. 9.

More. Should the Mavs trade Jalen Brunson?

Carlisle rules him out for the next two games

Coach Rick Carlisle gave a Porzingis update in his post-practice press conference which fans can hear below.

That means he will miss the games on Jan. 10 and 11. Carlisle sounds optimistic that Porzingis could play one of the two contests on their Tuesday and Wednesday back-to-back. That also means he will miss three of the next four games.

KP gets PRP injection

Tim MacMahon offered an injury update on his own on Jan. 9. See the tweet below.

Receiving a PRP injection is not uncommon. It still does not tell us a ton about the injury or how long fans can expect Porzingis to miss. Coach Carlisle remains optimistic, but he has been since he missed the first game on Dec. 31.

The Dallas Mavericks need Kristaps Porzingis back in the lineup, but he must be healthy first. Supporters should stay tuned for updates as they become available. Hopefully, KP returns early next week and remains healthy the rest of the way.

His floor spacing and rim protection have been sorely missed during his absence. It will be interesting to see if Porzingis’ injury forces the Mavs to trade for frontcourt help. It is another storyline to watch in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned.
