KP drops 19 in win
Kristaps Porzingis looked to have no ill effects from the back-to-back. He broke out of a bit of a shooting slump on Wednesday evening against the Timberwolves.
Porzingis finished with 19 points, six rebounds, and one block in 28 minutes of action. Coach Carlisle did limit his playing time slightly. That was in part because the bench was rolling again early in the fourth quarter. KP made seven of his 15 field goals including two 3-pointers in the 121-114 victory for the Mavericks.
Porzingis was key in the Mavs salting away the win. He drilled this deep 3-pointer in the final three minutes to expand their lead to ten.
He also put back a Luka miss in the final minute to push the game out of reach. Fans can see that monster slam below.
The fact that Kristaps Porzingis scored five key points in the final minutes was a fantastic sign. On the second night of a back-to-back, players often fade down the stretch. Not Porzingis. He was still going strong at the final buzzer.
KP proved that he does not need to rest. He was a key figure in the Mavericks 15th victory of the season. If he sat out, Dallas could have easily dropped that game against a tough Minnesota squad.
