Luka and KP

Have I mentioned that the Mavericks have one of the most impressive duos in the league, made up of a 21-year old and a 23-year old, both of which have come into the NBA and shut up their doubters almost immediately? Here is just one more reminder that the Mavericks have two of the best players in the league, period.

Back in the days of Dirk Nowitzki, we would hear things all the time about how Dirk was a great European basketball player or Dirk was maybe the best 7-foot shooter ever, but few would recognize that he was simply one of the best to ever play the game, regardless of where he was from or how tall he was.

Luka and Kristaps are some of the best players in the league, period. KP was an All-Star shortly before he had the injury that he did, and Luka is on a projection that will easily have him involved in the All-Star game very soon.

Not only that, but both players could be capable of competing for the MVP award down the road a little bit. It is doubtful that they are both considered for it at the same time, but if they are alternating which one is really dominating, there is reason to believe that they could both be mentioned, further down the list.

This is quite possibly the best star duo the Dallas Mavericks franchise has ever had. Dirk and Steve Nash may disagree with that, but Luka and Kristaps are proven commodities already, whereas Dirk and Nash had not quite hit the scene as hard yet. For that reason, the statement is really not farfetched at all.
