Dallas Mavericks center rotation got a new face with the signing of Boban Marjanovic. Here is a grade for that deal from a Mavs perspective.
The Dallas Mavericks have made plenty of moves this offseason. The team did not make the massive splash that fans hoped for, but they did do significant things. The centerpiece move was Mavs inking Kristaps Porzingis to a five-year max contract.
Dallas mostly focused on retaining their players. Maxi Kleber, Dwight Powell, Dorian Finney-Smith, and J.J. Barea also all received new contracts. That brings continuity to the Mavericks even if supporters were hoping for more.
The front office did make three additions. The first was signing Seth Curry to improve the Mavs guard depth and shooting. The most recent was adding defensive-minded point guard Delon Wright in a sign-and-trade with the Memphis Grizzlies. Both moves filled holes on the Mavericks roster.
The 7’3 center out of Serbia brings a massive personality to Dallas. He starred on the Bobi and Tobi show with Tobias Harris that had NBA fans buzzing earlier this year.
Marjanovic is a handful to deal with the court too. The Mavericks now employ the two tallest players in the NBA as both Porzingis and Boban are listed at 7’3. Let us take a closer look at the Marjanovic signing including what to expect on the court and grading the Dallas Mavericks on the deal.
