Los Angeles: Will Brandon Ingram Take the Next Step?

Since most people believe the turning point of the franchise will happen next summer in free agency, the focus this season will be on the youngsters growing together.

They took Lonzo Ball with the second overall pick in the draft and will give him the keys to the offense. How quickly Ball will adjust to the NBA level will be something to monitor, but it’s the progress of Brandon Ingram that I believe should be the biggest focus.

If Ingram can take that next step in his career, this would be huge for the Lakers moving forward. With him being under his rookie contract for the next couple of years, Los Angeles could have the foundational pieces to lure in one or two max free agents.

If Ingram can’t take that next step, then it would be another hole to fill moving forward with the franchise and would put the Lakers in a tough spot financially in finding quality starters.
