With the 9th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks selected Dennis Smith Jr. out of N.C. State to be their point guard of the future.
After missing out on the big fish in free agency the last few summers, the Mavericks changed things up this past offseason when they held their cards to their chest and decided to build upon their young core.
A key piece to that young core is Dennis Smith Jr. running the point.
But how good will he be in year one?
Smith Jr. was voted by his rookie peers to win the Rookie of the Year and is a popular pick after his Summer League performance. He projects to be something special in Dallas for a long time, but nobody knows just how good the youngster will be off the bat.
