3.) Dennis Smith Jr. Will Not Average More Than 31 Minutes a Game

Most rookie points guards going into a situation like Dallas would normally hover in the mid 30’s mark for minutes a game, but I don’t believe that will be the case for Smith Jr.

First, even though Smith Jr. looks to be completely healthy, the fact that his ACL tear in high school was just a few years ago might keep the Mavericks from running his minutes up on a per game basis.

Second, and the main reason behind the prediction, is the fact that Dallas has guard depth behind him that should get decent minutes.

Yogi Ferrell will get his first training camp in Dallas and looks to build off his rookie campaign. J.J. Barea and Devin Harris will be back logging minutes in the back court. Then factor in Seth Curry getting minutes at the point guard spot also.

Smith Jr. will get his minutes in Dallas, I just don’t think he will be logging 35+ minutes a night.
