Mavs Best Low-Risk, High-Reward Options in Free Agency

Jason Terry
Alright, so maybe this is a bit of a homer pick, but I would really like to see Jason Terry retire as a Dallas Maverick. Now don’t get me wrong, I have not always been the biggest fan of the Jet. When he first left, I felt like it was the right move for the Mavs in not keeping him around just in remembrance of the championship run. However, now I think we should bring him back.
Jason Terry is nearing the end of his career without a doubt. He still has worth on the court as a sharpshooter but, knowing that he will be turning 40 early in the season this year, he can’t have much time left. Although controversial at times, Jason Terry is a major reason the Mavs have a title and bringing him home for his last season wouldn’t hurt the team in any way.
The Mavericks would do well with this deal simply to get a great former Maverick back in a Dallas jersey before he retires. He still has value on the court and his minutes will be way down, what’s not to love?
This would not work simply because the parties do not care to do it. He was a great Mavericks player and nothing will change that. The retirement at home would just be a formality but unnecessary overall. He does bring value to the court but not much.

These players could all have something to offer the Mavericks without the Mavs having to offer them too much. We may not pull the trigger on any of them but it really wouldn’t be a bad idea when it comes down to it.
