Dewayne Dedmon

We have talked about Dewayne Dedmon on multiple occasions here on the site and it is because he really just has so much more upside than downside. Obviously he would not have that much upside if we are talking about him with an actual chance of acquiring him but, there is no doubt that Dedmon has his strengths.

Dedmon really would have the opportunity to be a great backup center for the Mavericks, something that would not hurt to have considering Nerlens Noel’s injury history as well as the furious style of play from Salah Mejri. Dedmon would jump in the role well.

This union would work well because Dedmon is not a liability on either end of the court. Although he is not a beast on the offensive end by any stretch of the imagination, he is still very capable. His rebounding was quite good last year at 6.5 rpg despite only playing about 17 minutes per game. The Mavs are going to need all the help they can get on the glass.

This would not work because we are not the only team that is going to see potential from Dedmon. Although he is already 28 years old and just now starting to show his real potential, someone with a little bit deeper pockets could very easily take him over us. The contracts will be interesting for Dallas with the new salary cap but there won’t be a whole lot of money left after bringing everyone back.
