De’Aaron Fox

“In part, Fox is my dream pick because I believe he is the best fit. His talent at the point guard spot would bring excitement to the AAC. He does have concerns about his poor shooting, but I believe it is something that will improve at the next level.” –Isaac Harris

More from The Smoking Cuban

“The dream Mavs pick would have to be De’aaron Fox. His speed, skill, versatility, and defensive skill put him virtually out of the Mavs grasp unless they trade up to get him. Fox is a great pick and roll player. He and Noel would be dangerous in the P&R; he would be able to create separation off the screen’s and make the defence pay dearly. He would be the Mavs star for the future if they ever had the hopes of capturing him in this draft.” –Mihajlo Knezevic

“Excluding Markelle Fultz (which couldn’t even happen in dreams), the dream prospect for the Mavericks has to be De’Aaron Fox. He has the size-speed combo that scouts drool over, and looks to be a defensive monster as well as a serious threat in transition play, and that’s his impact on day 1.

If he learns to shoot and puts on some bulk, he could be the best player from this entire draft. Also, he has the intangibles that the Mavs like. He’s a hardworking well-grounded kid who would really mesh with Dallas’ locker room. Sadly, he is looking less and less likely to be an option for Dallas, even with a trade.” –Sam Casey

“Asking the guy who just wrote a post about how De’Aaron Fox should be considered the number 1 overall pick who the Mavs dream pick should be is a bit obvious but I will back it up with my own view once again. Fox is not just a great point guard who is extra mature, extra energetic, and super athletic, he also would be perfect for the Mavericks system. His shooting ability has been questioned but his ability to distribute and get to the basket are unquestionable. Fox will be the best player to come from this draft.” –Kohl Rast
