Dennis Smith Jr.

“The interest has been linked too much with the team. He’s a playmaker and doesn’t make too many turnovers. He needs work on defense but Carlisle could mold him in the right ways to make him effective. He’s also good in the open court and the Mavs truly could benefit in a young guy who can hold his own in the PG position.” –Aaron Reed

Malik Monk

“The more I read, listen, and watch draft coverage, the more I feel like Malik Monk could honestly drop to the Dallas Mavericks at #9. It seems crazy to think that a top 5 talent could fall that far, but when teams draft for positions, it changes things and people fall. The Knicks seem to be sold on Ntilikina and the Magic are still looking at Dennis Smith Jr. which gives the Mavs a solid chance to pick up Monk. This would be the perfect scenario for Dallas and it’s looking more and more plausible.” –Kohl Rast

For the most part, our staff believes right along the lines of what the mock drafts out there have been saying for weeks. A couple of us differ and feel that someone is going to drop, but by the looks of things, the Dallas Mavericks should be getting a solid player in the draft no matter what happens.
