Dennis Smith Jr.

“I think there are a number of prospects who fit with what the Mavs do, but seeing as they are hell-bent on taking a PG I’ll narrow it down to those options. That being said, I think Dennis Smith Jr. is an ideal fit in Dallas. He is the athletic scoring type of guard that Carlisle likes, while having the passing and P&R capabilities to run his offense. It’s noteworthy that if we trade Wes Matthews than this fit doesn’t work quite as well, seeing as Smith Jr will need a bigger, defensively-capable backcourt partner.” –Sam Casey

“Smith is the most offensively prepared point guard in this year’s draft. Even if the Mavs can nail down a deal for Jrue Holiday, the Mavs should not hesitate to draft Smith if he is there at number nine. A good shooter, solid defender, and passionate competitor, Smith could be a helpful player off the bench right away, and a possible off-guard starter a few years down the road.” –Evan Siegel
