Able to Drive and Finish at the Rim

In head coach Rick Carlisle‘s offense, point guards are given the tools and freedom to make plays and therefore are expected to score often and consistently. Carlisle has shown in the past that he has an affinity for lead guards who aren’t afraid to put the ball in the hole. Last season Dallas lacked a quick guard who could penetrate and attack the paint. This resulted in frustratingly inconsequential ball movement and lots of jacked up looks late in the shot clock, that is until YogiMania happened.

Yogi Ferrell found success in the Mavs’ system due to his balanced offensive repertoire, as he burned slow defenders and made lazy ones pay if they didn’t respect his jumper.

One reported free-agent target of the Mavs is Jrue Holiday. Holiday is a former all-star who is dynamic with the ball in his hands. He has the strength and balance to finish at the rim, and the handles and speed to get him there.
