PG. Dennis Smith Jr.. 8. 27. .

KOHL: The New York Knicks will show their future plans with this pick by taking a top level point guard after Derrick Rose is now an unrestricted free agent. It is no surprise that the Knicks have decided to go a different direction than the oft-injured Rose, but Smith Jr. is a heck of a consolation prize, if you can even call it that.

the former NC State Wolfpack point guard, Smith Jr. is a top tier point guard in the draft and also a bit of a wildcard. Smith Jr. tore his ACL around the end of 2015 and has had some major highs and lows since then. However, his highs reflect one of the top players in the draft, which is why he sits here at pick #8.

Dennis Smith Jr. is a 6’3″ guard who does everything pretty well. He is an excellent scorer with great abilities to get to the rim but can also shoot the ball fairly well. He is also a good passer who averaged 6.8 assists per game in his freshman season, and an above average rebounder at his position.

If the Knicks did not go with Smith Jr., I expect them to take Frank Ntilikina instead. I believe they like the idea of knowing what they are getting this time with Smith Jr.
