KOHL: The Orlando Magic will think long and hard about grabbing a point guard at #6 overall, but with De’Aaron Fox being taken the pick right before, the Magic will go with the best available player in Josh Jackson.

Jackson is an excellent player out of Kansas University where he played a guard/forward hybrid in his freshman year. This will suit the Magic well who started Evan Fournier, Terrence Ross, and Aaron Gordon during the 2016-17 season. These players are serviceable but finding a place for someone like Jackson won’t be hard.

Jackson is another great all around player with excellent averages in each stat category. His shooting was pretty good, but again will need some work behind the arc. In his season with the Jayhawks, Jackson shot 34% from three-point land. This will definitely need to move up to give Orlando some outside shooting weapons.

The Magic will also consider a guard at this spot so don’t be surprised to see either Dennis Smith Jr. or Frank Ntilikina taken here. Elfrid Payton is a good point guard but has not grown into the player Orlando envisioned.

Still though, the Magic need some help on the wings where all of their players are good but not great. At the very least, Jackson could give the team an excellent Sixth Man option.
