Danilo Gallinari (28)

My personal favorite free agent on the market is Danilo Gallinari who has been with the Denver Nuggets the past 6 and a half years. Since moving to Denver, Gallinari has been a great scorer. Truthfully one of the better scorers in the league at his position. Unfortunately, there is not much past scoring that he is particularly good at.

Defense is not his strength, passing has never been his forte, and rebounding should be better at 6’10”. However, with the Mavs addition of Nerlens Noel last season, Gallinari may have the rare chance of getting to take over where Dirk really was as a scorer first and everything else second. This would be ideal for him.

The Mavs may not have any interest in the Italian-born star. His style of play is not always the best match against opponents and his price tag probably will not be cheap. However, Dallas would not be dumb to give him a shot.

For Gallo to come to Dallas, it would probably take a commitment to make him a focal point in the offense. This would not be tough for Dallas who would love to give the ball to a pure scorer like him. He also would have the opportunity to work with the Mavs great medical staff who may be able to get him on the court more regularly than he has in the past. It would be an interesting fit but could work out.

Gallinari also may not want to come to Dallas and I think it will have to do with money and Denver. The Nuggets had a strong season this year and may want to keep the group together. That is no guarantee, however, as they have had so many players struggle with injury on their roster. Gallinari may want to find a team closer to a championship possibility as well. This would be the major setback, along with the possibility of no mutual interest.
