Dallas Mavericks: Who to Draft Instead of Justin Anderson?

Josh Richardson
Although Richardson had a down year this season due to injuries and inconsistency, 2015’s 40th overall pick still has a lot of potential.
Last season, he demonstrated an outstanding long range ability, attempting 2.2 threes a game and connecting at a blistering 46% clip. Pure shooters, despite defensive ability, will always have a place in this league. But this is what sets Richardson apart: he uses his 6-6 frame to body up on opposing players and provide effective one-on-one defense.
Richardson is exactly the type of player the Mavs wanted Anderson to be: an oversized tweener who could knock down an open three and use his size to play tough defense. Unfortunately, Anderson was never able to master either part of the 3 and D profile which resulted in his departure.
