Larry Nance Jr.

I know Nance may be a controversial choice since he is still under investigation for the brutal murder of Brook Lopez earlier this year, but the former 27th pick has shown a lot of promise in his two seasons with the Lakers.

An old school, but undersized center, Nance has shown off his superior athleticism and defensive abilities. Playing on a Lakers team that wouldn’t touch a defensive scheme with a ten-foot pole, Nance has posted admirable numbers on the less glamorous side of the ball. He posted a team-leading steal percentage and a 2nd-ranked defensive rating at 109.

Considering the stagnation of Dwight Powell, it might have been interesting to watch Nance develop here in Dallas where he could further hone his offensive game.

At the very least, Mavs fans could enjoy nightly posters courtesy of the man who could have made this year’s Dunk Contest a lot more interesting.
