The NBA featured a handful of exceptional bench players this year, with an even more select few as the featured 6th man for their team. Although the choices are slightly more limited, our staff picks who they believe will win the award this year.

The 6th Man of the Year award is one that has been very difficult to earn in the past because of how well the NBA as a whole utilizes that role. Some people in the list this year are previous winners and others have been very close.

The Dallas Mavericks had their own great 6th man for a good portion of this year with Seth Curry usually the first man off the bench for the Mavs. Although he probably does not qualify for a chance at the award due to starting over half the season, Seth Curry may still be taking a backseat to those on the list today.

The Smoking Cuban staff all went through and chose their award winners for all of the major awards after the season ended. The 6th man award is one of the few that we had a lot of variability on as a staff.

Last year’s 6th Man of the Year, Jamal Crawford, will have a vote. Lou Williams, the winner the year before, will also make his case. Neither of these two are the favorites this year, however, as two players who have yet to win the award are at the top of the list.

It is difficult to say at this point who will win the 6th man award for the NBA, but we give our best guesses here.
