5.) Rick Carlisle is Confident in Draft Talent

The Dallas Mavericks have the 9th best odds of landing the top overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. But barring some crazy luck, the Mavericks will be selecting in that 9th spot come June.

With the draft now taking center stage among the fan base, Carlisle was asked about it on Thursday and is confident in the talent available.

Carlisle obviously can’t and won’t know which player they will draft at this moment, but I bet he has a few names he wants to slip to them at nine. We all know it is a loaded draft class, but Carlisle has already done his homework.

A lot of draft night will all be determined by who is drafted ahead of the Mavs pick. If the Mavs strike gold at the Draft Lottery in May, then Dallas will have their hands full in drafting franchise potential moving forward.

Some other notes from exit interviews:

-Yogi Ferrell said he worked out for the Philadelphia 76ers, but they obviously didn’t sign him

-On what they need next season, Devin Harris said they need “more shooting” and “bigs who are more aggressive rebounding.”

-Nerlens said the move from Philly to Dallas basketball wise was a culture shock

-Dirk joked that he would be in the draft room in June.
