Dallas Mavericks: 5 Takeaways From Exit Interviews

2.) Unsure of Devin Harris’ Future
Heading into the 2017-18 season, the Dallas Mavericks have a decision to make with their veteran guard in Harris. Harris has a team option worth around $4.4 million for next year.
When asked if the organization has told him if he would be back or not, Harris admitted he hasn’t heard of anything.
“That is a great question…they have not. Obviously it is a team option, the ball is in their court, but they haven’t given me any indication. I think going into the summer, the draft and free agency plays a part first and then see what it is,” Harris said.
Harris sounded like he obviously wants to be back, but knows that Dallas could opt to keep getting younger in the back court, especially if they draft a guard on draft night.
So what is Devin’s gut telling him?
“I tend to not follow my gut because once you think one thing…you know it’s pretty spot on. I have been in and out obviously, the first time I took it very hard. My heart was into it and that is where I wanted to be. But like I said, sometimes the business gets the best of you,” Harris said.
Harris wants to be in Dallas, now it is up to the Mavs.
