The 2017 NBA Draft is loaded with point guards at the top and Dennis Smith Jr. is right there with the best. Ball and Fultz are at the top, but after that, it’s a two way battle with Fox and Smith at point guard.

If Fox is known for his impressive defense, then Smith is known for his explosive athleticism. Fox is more of a linky, longer framed point guard while Smith is over 20 pounds heavier. Even though Smith had somewhat of a disappointing season at N.C. State, the uber athletic point guard is still considered a top 7 pick in the draft.

Defensively, Smith isn’t a liability, but isn’t on the level of Fox either. Of all the wingspans of the guards at the top, Smith has the shortest of all the point guards at 6’3″.

Smith might be going underneath the radar at the moment since he didn’t play in March, but don’t sleep on the athletic point guard.
