The Dallas Mavericks’ 2017 Summer Free Agency Preview

The Power Forwards
Dirk Nowitzki‘s minutes are decreasing more and more every year. The Mavericks have had Dorian Finney-Smith to back up Nowitzki, but could still use more help at the position. Fortunately, there will be a number of big-name power forwards that the Mavs will have a shot at during the summer free agency season.
Zach Randolph, MEM
Who better to back up a veteran, than a veteran? Zach Randolph is in his 16th season in the league and would be a great player to come off the bench or even start when Nowitzki needs rest. Also, Z-Bo has still shown he is productive, averaging 14.1 points and 8.3 rebounds a game for Memphis this year.
Serge Ibaka, TOR
One of the most feared shot-blockers in the league, Serge Ibaka is another strong candidate to fill the 4 spot for Dallas. Although he was just traded to Toronto, Ibaka is an unrestricted free-agent this summer. Dallas could really use the 6-10 big man, who averages 2.4 blocks a game in his career.
James Johnson, MIA
James Johnson has really come out of his shell this year for the Miami Heat. Johnson averages 12.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, all career highs. The 6-9 power forward out of Wake Forrest proves to be an excellent bench player to throw into the rotation for Dallas.
Terrence Jones, MIL
After being waived by New Orleans, Terrence Jones found himself joining the Milwaukee Bucks, but he could still be a free agent this summer. Jones is a strong forward who has averaged 1.2 blocks, 5.8 rebounds, and 10.6 points a game in his 5-year career.
Nikola Mirotic, CHI*
After 3 seasons in Chicago, Nikola Mirotic has proven to be a great asset for an NBA team to have on their squad. The 6-10 forward from Montenegro has averaged10.5 points per game in his career, with a 34.3% success rate from three. Mirotic is a tough player and would fit in well with players such as Mejri, Nowitzki, and Noel.
