3.) Trade Their 2017 First Round Pick for an Average Star

The third thing I DON’T want the Mavs to do is trade their 2017 first round pick for an average star.

What is an average star? That could be up for debate, but when I make that statement I think about Goran Dragic.

Miami could look to unload their starting point guard this season and I’m sure there will be a lot of suitors for the guard, but I hope Dallas doesn’t fall for the trap of instant success in mortgaging their future.

Realistically, there are only a couple of names I would give up that potential top 5 pick for. Of all the names previously mentioned in trade rumors, only DeMarcus Cousins and Paul George would be players I would make the deal for.

Obviously other names could come up in talks before the deadline, I just don’t want them to trade the pick for an average star.
