Russell Westbrook

The clear staff favorite to win MVP and probably the league-wide favorite is Oklahoma City Thunder point guard, Russell Westbrook. Here is what some of our staff members predicted.

“I expect a full vengeance from Russ this season where he’ll average near a triple double and drag the Thunder into the playoff conversation. They may not make it but his statistics and individual season will be so spectacular that it would be insane not to give it to him.”

– Shawn James

“Russell Westbrook is my NBA MVP candidate. Now that Kevin Durant went to Golden State, Westbrook can utilize his front court to bump up his assist numbers this year while maintaining his usual scoring and rebound rate. The way the Thunder are constructed, Westbrook is a triple double a night guy which will win him the MVP. Lastly, Westbrook has always been a top 5 defender among guards and shows no sign of slowing down this season.”

– Ricky Castro

“This year’s MVP will be Russell Westbrook. Having bridged the gap from elite athlete to elite player, Westbrook finally has the court to himself after Kevin Durant’s stunning departure. We could see similar stat lines to Oscar Robertson this year from number 0.”

– Evan Siegel
