5 Expectations for the Dallas Mavericks This Season

3) Harrison Barnes Increased Offensive Role and Production
Harrison Barnes spent his first four year in the NBA with the stacked Golden State Warriors. On a team with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, Barnes didn’t have much of an opportunity to showcase his offensive abilities. He would sit in the corner and wait for a chance to knockdown and open three.
Now he has joined the Mavs who need him to live up to the potential that went untapped in Oakland. Barnes won’t necessarily be the sole focal point of Dallas’ offense, but he will likely be the second scoring option behind Nowitzki. The Mavs paid a steep price for Barnes’ services, and will accordingly want a nice return on their investment. The expectation for Harrison Barnes is that he will grow in to a far larger offensive role this season and average at least 14 points per game.
