Dallas Mavericks Training Camp: 3 Things From Day Two

Quincy Acy is Fun
Perhaps the highlight of the entire scrimmage was a play where Jonathan Gibson drove the lane in what looked to be an easy layup, but Acy came up way above the rim for a block off the backboard.

I admittedly haven’t watched much of Quincy Acy as I sparingly saw him play in New York and some last year in Sacramento. But the more I watch I’m in practice, the more I think he can have a role on this team.
Wednesday, at open practice, Acy was simply all over the court as he grabbed rebounds, blocked shots, dunked, and even shot a three pointer…something he has in his arsenal.
It’s important to Mavs fans that Acy is not just a DeJuan Blair type of player. Yes, he can bruise down low for the rebounds, but he has an offensive game also that gives the Mavericks some flexibility off the bench.
I look forward to the battle between him and Powell for minutes off the bench.
