Why the Dallas Mavericks Are a ‘Winner’ This Summer

1.) Bringing Back Dirk Nowitzki
Not that it was ever put into question, but Dirk Nowitzki is back in Dallas on a two-year deal that will pay him roughly $20 million a year. A deal that by all accounts, will be the last deal of his career.

The whole offseason for Dallas revolved around Nowitzki and rightfully so. With Dirk making it known he wanted to play a couple of more seasons, Dallas felt the pressure of fielding a competitive enough team around him to secure him finishing his career in Dallas.
Nowitzki, the 6th all-time leading scorer in NBA history, is coming back to Dallas for his 19th and hopefully 20th season. Something you don’t see in hardly any of the main sports.
After watching Dwyane Wade walk to Chicago this summer and the retirement of Tim Duncan in San Antonio, it brought even more attention to the fact that Dirk will be finishing his career with the same team that he started with.
Dallas secured their legend and if that isn’t a win, I don’t know what is.
Mark Cuban, Donnie Nelson, and the whole organization get a lot of flack from their own fans and fans across the league, but before you jump on the bashing bandwagon, Dallas could very well be considered a ‘winner’ this summer.
