Utah Receives: Marcus Smart, Amir Johnson, and the 3rd pick.

Boston Receives: Gordon Hayward and 12th pick

Utah: For the Jazz, this hinders some on how they view Marcus Smart. If they view Smart as a potential long-term starting point guard, then this deal would make more sense. Smart would come in right away to run point for a young team that desperately needed it last season.

Smart would join Rodney Hood, Alec Burks, Rudy Gobert, and Derrick Favors in a starting unit that could finally push for the playoffs.

Then there is the 3rd pick in the draft. If they are unsure about Smart, then draft Kris Dunn or Jamal Murray. They could go any direction, literally.

Boston: Danny Ainge would get a player they supposedly have coveted for a long time and pair him with his college coach Brad Stevens. Hayward would step in right away and be the best player on Boston’s team.

Losing Smart would leave a hole at point, but Boston would be getting the 12th pick in the deal where they could draft potentially a Dejounte Murray or Wade Baldwin. They could also chase Mike Conley in free agency or target one on the trade market.
