Moving Up into the Lottery

Justin Anderson, the 46th pick and a future second rounder to Phoenix for the 13th pick.

To preface this, I don’t see this as a likely option due to to increased play of Justin Anderson towards the end of last year, but it wouldn’t be impossible depending on how Dallas views Anderson long-term.

Phoenix owns the 4th, 13th, and 28th pick in the first round, thus making them a high possibility to trade one of them for the right deal. Anderson would come in right away and join a young core on the wing. He could possible challenge right away for minutes at the small forward position. Phoenix would also pick up another second rounder and future second rounder in the deal.

For Dallas, this would be a move up into the lottery to snag a talent they would deem to be worthy of giving up Anderson for obviously. A talent they would believe to be able to step in right away and be a key piece in the rotation for the next years to come.

Players they could potentially target would be Domantas Sabonis, Jakob Poeltl, or Wade Baldwin IV.

If Dallas does make a trade on draft night, I would expect the likelihood of each trade scenario to decrease by each of the options I presented with the most likely trade being moving up in the second round.
