5.) Jason Terry Will Be Back in Dallas

If Dallas brings in Howard while bringing back Parsons, Williams, and Nowitzki, they will be cap strapped to fill out the roster.

Terry is an unrestricted free agent that will be looking for a contender to finish his career with. Considering that Terry lives in Dallas, won a championship in Dallas, and his kids go to college in the DFW area, Dallas would be an obvious choice for the veteran.

Terry would sign a cheap one-year contract in which he would be the third point guard off the bench similar to the Raymond Felton role this past season.

With this roster makeup and contract come sacrifices. Raymond Felton will most likely sign a decent contract with a different team that will be outside of Dallas’ budget. Dwight Powell will be interesting, but with so many teams with cap space, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a team hand out a contract to the youngster that will look dumb to a lot of people.

Zaza Pachulia will hurt the most but unless he would be willing to sign for the minimum and make around what JaVale McGee would make if his team option is picked up, then I think he won’t be back. Ultimately, I think a team will give him more money than what Dallas could offer if they land Howard. I have Charlie and JaVale coming back strictly for a financial standpoint to fill out the roster.

My way-to-early roster outlook prediction in this scenario would look something like this…

PG: Williams, J.J. Barea, Free Agent Vet

SG: Matthews, Devin Harris, Jason Terry

SF: Parsons, Justin Anderson, Draft Pick

PF: Nowitzki, Jeremy Evans, Charlie Villanueva

C: Howard, Salah Mejri, JaVale McGee

Would this team compete for a title? I’m not for sure, but I think this could be a very likely roster makeup come this fall. It would also give Nowitzki a roster that would be competitive enough to compete in the West.
