Dallas Mavericks to Workout Louisiana-Lafayette’s Shawn Long

The Dallas Mavericks continue their pre-draft workouts by working out stretch-four big man Shawn Long from Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Mavericks go into June’s draft only possessing a second round pick after dealing their first round pick to the Boston Celtics in the Rajon Rondo deal two December’s ago. With that in mind, Dallas will look at all different angles heading into the draft next month.
Even though the Mavs are looking to put in their dues with workouts, keep in mind they could be looking for potential un-drafted players they will look to bring in to the summer camp roster this summer.
Up next, is Louisiana-Lafeyette big man, Shawn Long.

Shawn Long spent four years for the Ragin’ Cajuns and was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year during his senior season in college. During this season he averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds a game.
After working out for the Philadelphia 76ers early in the week, he impressed some in the front office. Sixers Vice President of Player Personnel told Keith Pompey “I call him a stretch five, stretch four…he has the ability to go out and make a shot.”
After finishing his career shooting a little over 34% from behind the arc, Long focuses on imitating two great power forwards in the game.
Louisiana-Lafayette PF Shawn Long said he aspires to be like LaMarcus Aldridge or Rasheed Wallace, a big who can shoot the ball.

It’s unsure what the draft stock is looking like for Long as he comes in at around a 6’9″-10″ stretch four who can get down low and battle for the boards; he did average double-digit rebounds all four years of college.
