Yogi Ferrell to Workout for Dallas Mavericks

Former Indiana Hoosier guard Yogi Ferrell is set to workout for the Dallas Mavericks on May 26th.
After playing all four years at Indiana, Yogi Ferrell has his eyes set on the NBA as the point guard looks to be a second round draft pick come June. After an impressive career at Indiana, Ferrell could find his name being called on draft night.
Ferrell, during his senior season, led his Indiana team to the sweet sixteen after defeating a streaking University of Kentucky team and matching up with eventual tournament finalist, North Carolina Tar Heels. Ferrell averaged 17 points and 5 assists last year at Indiana while finishing as a Wooden Award finalist.
Now Ferrell is entering the draft process as an experienced point guard looking to impress a few teams.

With the Mavericks losing their first round pick to the Boston Celtics in next month’s draft in the Rajon Rondo trade, Dallas will be looking at all angles come draft night in June with their second round pick.
Standing at 6’0″, 180 pounds, Ferrell would enter the NBA as a smaller guard at the position, but nothing that hasn’t been done before. As far as the fit with the Mavs, the point guard position in Dallas has some questions going into the summer.
Will Deron Williams be back as the starter? Will Raymond Felton be back at all? What does Dallas do with J.J. Barea and Devin Harris?

The Mavs don’t have the best of luck drafting smaller point guards (ie. Shane Larkin) and it would be unclear how he would fit next to a smaller Barea off the bench, but it is worth noting the workout for the decorated collegiate player in Ferrell.
