Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki to return Sunday against Pacers

Dirk Nowitzki is expected to make his preseason debut Sunday against the Indiana Pacers after sustaining a right hip contusion.

Nowitzki missed the Dallas Mavericks preseason opener against the Houston Rockets and will sit out tonight’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Nowitzki, 36, is coming off another All-Star season while barely missing out on his second 50-40-90 season last year. He averaged 21.7 points and 6.2 rebounds.

Rick Carlisle has also announced that Monta Ellis will miss the next two games.
