Parade official and GAABA President Jorge Levy contacted Mark Cuban on February 8th to see if he would be willing to donate toward the parade’s expense. It is my understanding, he was among many that were contacted. It has been reported that Cuban replied within seven minutes to the email offering to donate the entire $40,000 needed to carry on the annual tradition on Greenville Ave and donating another $25, 000 to the parade’s scholarship fund. He was asked to be the grand marshal of the parade but declined, instead offering to possibly support the parade in future years.

The Dallas Observer reported that within 34 seconds of reporting the news that parade was on life support , comments came flowing in with people in distress over the news. Many people are relieved, including myself. Although, I have never personally attended a parade, I know about it and it is part of Dallas. It’s a, well, tradition and traditions shouldn’t die. Apparently Mark Cuban thought the same thing and he swooped in and saved the day.
