After defending their home court for 4 straight games, the Dallas Mavericks look to close out their 5-game staycation with a game against the Phoenix Suns.

The Dallas Mavericks continue to surprise their loyal fans. Since the All-Star break, the Mavs have gone 6-2. Also, all 6 of those wins have come at home. Tonight, the Mavericks will look to extend that home winning streak to 7 games as they get a visit from the Suns. Dallas is on an impressive 4-game win streak as they inch closer and closer to the 8th playoff spot. A Mavericks’ win tonight would be an exclamation point to a dominant homestand.

In their last 4 games, the Mavericks have had solid victories over Memphis, Oklahoma City, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn. Although, the boys seemed to have a bit of a 30k point hangover against Brooklyn. Without Nerlens Noel, who was out with soreness in his knee, the Mavs were able to overcome to the Nets after a 13-1 run in the 4th quarter.

Currently, Nerlens Noel’s status is day-to-day and we have not received word on his status for tonight’s game against Phoenix. Although Noel has a history with knee injuries, Mavericks’ fans should not be worried about the health of their newest star.

An Old Friend

The Mavericks will be getting a visit from an old friend and a fan favorite tonight, Tyson Chandler. The 15-year veteran was the rim protector for the 2011 NBA Champions and gave the Mavericks a great year before heading off to New York. Although, Chandler did return for another season before going to Phoenix. Doesn’t it feel like Tyson was here for at least 3 seasons?

For Chandler’s Suns, they sit at the 14th spot in the Western Conference. After a tough year, Phoenix fans hope they can get the highest lottery pick possible. This season, The Mavericks split the first two games with the Suns. Although, Dallas has pocketed 24 wins in the last 34 matchups with Phoenix.

At home this year, the Mavericks hold a record of 20-14. As for Phoenix, they have not seen much success away from their home crowd as they are 8-24 in away games.

Momentum Builder

The Mavericks have been rolling in the last few games. Although last night was a sluggish start, Dallas found a way to win, and that is all that matters. If the Mavericks can pick up the win tonight, they will have a lot of momentum to finish out March. And trust me, they are going to need it.

After tonight’s game against Phoenix, the Mavericks have a slew of tough opponents. The Mavericks will travel to Toronto, Washington, and Philadelphia before they get a break with a trip to Brooklyn. Then, the Mavericks have another homestand against the Warriors, Clippers, Raptors, and Thunder.

The Mavericks close the month out with a road trip to New Orleans and Memphis, so this game tonight could give Dallas some much-needed confidence. Make sure to check back at The Smoking Cuban for the post-game coverage.
