The Dallas Mavericks earned an important win against a Western Conference playoff team in the Memphis Grizzlies. The play by Curry, Yogi, and Barnes led the way to a 104-100 win for Dallas.

Old-pals Chandler Parsons, Vince Carter, and the rest of the Memphis Grizzlies were handed a loss to the Dallas Mavericks at the AAC on Friday night by a final tally of 104-100. Seth Curry once again led the Mavs in scoring with 24 points as he continues to blossom into a starting NBA guard.

Thick in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, the Mavs scored a much-needed win against the pesky Grizzlies without their toughest competitor, Wesley Matthews. Yogi Ferrell, after earning Rookie of the Month honors, had one of his best games since joining the Mavericks.

The17 points from the Mavericks starting point guard was imperative as the Mavs were without their starting shooting guard and did not receive much help on the offensive end from the team’s 2nd unit off the bench.

This qualifies as one of the best wins of the year for the Mavs. The Grizzlies currently sit at number six in the Western Conference with 36 wins. Chandler Parsons returned home to Dallas where he spent two seasons and was largely ineffective as he was outperformed by first-year Maverick, Harrison Barnes.

Newcomer, Nerlens Noel, had his best game since joining Dallas following a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers. Noel’s impressive stat line of 15 points and 17 rebounds is another step towards proving that he was worth every bit of the trade that sent Justin Anderson and Andrew Bogut to the Sixers.

So far as a Maverick, he has faced DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis of the Pelicans, Dwight Howard of the Hawks, Hassan Whiteside of the Heat, Marc Gasol of the Grizzlies and several other premier NBA seven-footers.

The Mavs’ youth movement is developing before our eyes. Seth Curry, Yogi Ferrell, Nerlens Noel, Dorian Finney-Smith and Harrison Barnes comprise one of the youngest cores developing across the NBA.

The organization has also managed to pair them with savvy veterans in Dirk Nowitzki, Wesley Matthews and Devin Harris who provide outstanding mentorship to the young guns. The Mavs grabbed win number 25 on the season, and will next host Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night at the American Airlines Center.
