Seth Curry Leads Mavs Past Heat for Win at Home

Behind a big night from Seth Curry, the Mavericks notch their second straight win after the addition of Nerlens Noel.

A thrilling matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat was nothing new to the fans of both squads, given the team’s incredible history of facing each other in the NBA finals.

Tonight, it was the Mavericks who came out on top, defeating the visiting Heat 96-89 behind twenty-nine points from budding star Seth Curry.

Harrison Barnes was also among the heroes for the Mavericks tonight, putting up twenty-four points and playing some important defense down the stretch against Dion Waiters to help seal the win for the playoff-chasing Mavs. Barnes’ season took another positive step forward as the Heat struggled to pay attention to both Curry and Barnes on the perimeter.

Rookie phenom Yogi Ferrell, has seen a sharp decline in play since his thirty-two point explosion against the Trail Blazers, and that continued tonight with just six points on only two field goals. But the combined offense from Curry and Barnes, along with the invaluable defense of Wesley Matthews was enough to get the job done.

In his second game with Dallas, Nerlens Noel faced another tough test after facing Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins Saturday night. Hassan Whiteside dominated the glass as he does almost every game, putting up nineteen points and nineteen rebounds seemingly without even being challenged by the Mavs bigs.

But Noel did his part without question. The twenty-two year old did precisely what the Mavs are hoping he can do for however long he remains a Maverick, scoring six points and grabbing six rebounds.

For the Mavs, every game becomes more and more crucial to their playoff hopes. Dallas scored win number twenty-four tonight, as they desperately look to somehow avoid a losing season and reach the Western Conference’s final playoff spot.
