The Dallas Mavericks really did not come to play tonight, as they fell to a fellow Western Conference team, the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Mavs dropped another game to a team lower than them in the standings.

The Mavericks really just looked out matched throughout the entire game tonight. Karl-Anthony Towns crushed them in the middle, Andrew Wiggins killed them all over, and Tyus Jones tore out their hearts from behind the arc.

Despite this supposed slaughter, the Mavericks still held on until late in the 4th quarter, even tying it at 75 all late in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, the Mavs magic ran out and Minnesota ran away with it the rest of the way, winning the game 97-84.

The big contributors for the T-Wolves were definitely Towns and Wiggins, who combined for 53 points and 25 rebounds. Both players exploded and were real pests for the Mavericks to guard which is a big reason that someone like Nerlens Noel would have been helpful tonight.

For Dallas, it was the Seth Curry show from start to finish as the guard looked like the only one prepared for tonight’s game. Harrison Barnes had a good game finishing with 20 points on 9-17 shooting, but that is nothing new for the Mavs wing.

Curry on the other hand, was as hot as he has ever been. Scoring a career high 31 points, Seth shot 13-17 for the night, including 3-6 from behind the arc. The only part about Curry’s game that was not on point tonight was his handling of the ball, as he had 4 turnovers for the night.

Dallas’ defense really was not terrible as they held Minnesota to only 97 points and 16 turnovers, but the offense was seriously lacking. The rest of the Mavs team outside of Curry and Barnes combined for 33 points on 13-49 shooting (26.5% shooting) and 4-23 from 3-point land (17.4%).

These numbers will almost never equate to a win for Dallas and the team is going to need to figure something out soon or this season will be too far out of reach. Dallas is a better team than this and will need to prove that starting tomorrow.

The Dallas Mavericks will travel back home to face the NBA’s new twin towers of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins in a battle against the New Orleans Pelicans. Luckily for Dallas, Nerlens Noel will be joining the team for tomorrow night’s game, just in time to see what he is made of. The game will start at approximately 7:30 pm CT.
